March 15, 1993/083 A segular meeting of the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chambers, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2580 Shaughnessy Street, Port Coquitlam, B.C. on Monday, March 15th, 1993, at 7:30 p.m. Acting Mayor M.D. Gates and Councillors, M.J. Gordon, R.H. Talbot, and M.A. Thompson were in attendance. Also in attendance were City Administrator B.R. Kirk, Secretarial Assistant to the City Clerk G. Chubaty, Deputy Engineer J. Yip, and Director of Planning C. Felip. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Councillor Talbot: Seconded by Councillor Gordon: That the minutes of the Regular Council meeting he!d on March 8th, 1993 be taken as read and adopted. Carried. PROCLAMATIONS: WHEREAS the Municipality of Port Coquitlam is committed to the belief that equal opportunity and treatment should exist for all people; WHEREAS every resident of Port Coquitlam has the right to realize his or her potential, regardless of race, colour, national or ethnic origin, and live at ali times in conditions of dignity, respect and peace, WHEREAS the General Assembly of the United Nations has designated March 21 as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination; AND WHEREAS the elimination of racism and racial discrimination can be accomplished through understanding and respect for the dignity of all people, and is the social and moral responsibility of each person, NOW THEREFORE I, Leonard M. Traboulay, Mayor of the Corporation of The City of Port Coquitlam, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM March 21 as the "INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF RACIAL DISCRIMINATION" in the City of Port Coquitlam.
