OCT 23 1978 Dear Sirs: Re: Application for Burning Permit We are currently acting as the contractor for Genstar Development Company in the demolition and clearing of the area known as the Mary Hill Gravel Pit. The work has necessitated the accumulation of a quantity. of broken and split large wooden beams, studs, trusses flooring and similar building members. Our estimate is that there is approximately 400 cubic yards of piled, broken wood’ to be consumed and that this would take about two days to burn as the material involved would be fed to the fire gradually under: closely controlled conditions. We respectfully request Council grant us a Two Day Burning Permit for the period October 30/31 in order that we may complete the clearing of the site and we undertake to Garry out the burning in a careful and safe manner and specifically: a. to conduct the burning at the centre of the main gravel pit area close to the waterfront and surrounded by bare sand/gravel to a minimum radius of 200 feet. b. to have staff on site at all times from the moment of ignition until the burning is complete. c. to have earth moving equipment on site throughout the burning process in the form of a Case 580 backhoe/loader. d. to have two 6" water hoses and ancilliary pumping equipment on site at all times. By conducting the burning under these closely controlled conditions and with this equipment to abate and confine the fire there will be no danger to any surrounding property. We further undertake to maintain close liaison with your Port Coquitlam Fire Department and to report to them when ignition is begun and when the burning is concluded.
