Additionally, he noted that costs for development of a single soccer field were in the range of $50,000.00, hence he felt an increase to $600.00 per unit was most reasonable. Discussion ensued with respect to the problems of park acquisition and development costs and alternatives involving land swaps with developers and requiring developers to develop parks ag, part of their subdivision requirements, and a comparison was drawn to the G.V.R.D. Parks Committee which to date has directed almost all funds to Park Acquisition and not development thus resulting in numerous areas which are not useable due to lack of development. Alderman Thompson suggested the matter be considered further by the Finance Committee and Mayor Campbell agreed that this would be done.
