THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM TO: City Administrator July 13, 1987 FROM: City Engineer SUBJECT: Limited Time Parking on Donald Street Public Works Committee July 7, 1987 Recommendation: That the portion of the east side of Donald Street from the south side of the ltaundromat to McAl!ister Avenue be designated limited time parking - two hours from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 pom. Monday to Saturday and that the unrestricted parking be extended south a further twenty feet from its present position. Background and Comments: The Public Works Committee received two opposing letters on the parking on Donald Street. The previous parking prohibition was removed on a portion of Donaid Street after representation by the merchants who required parking for their customers. These merchants are now pointing out that the unftimited parking has resulted in abuse by residents of the aparTment block who are able to avoid paying parking fees by using the street. Representation was also received. from one of the apartment residents who was unable to afford the monthtiy parking fee and therefore required space on Donald Street. The Committee felt that a compromise could be achieved by designating a portion of Donald Street as two hour parking. This should provide sufficient space for customers using the businesses and stil! leave some room for apartment residentse Enge, Peters, P Engineer
