Telephone. had requested approval would put great Financial pressure on the Senior Citizens of the City and, additionally, the City rates would be increased substantially. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That we contact the C.R.T.C. and request that the B.C. Telephone application for interim rate increases be denied. Carried. Alderman Muldoon voted against the resolution. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That a letter be forwarded to Mark Rose, M.P. asking that he request the government investigate the nationalization of the B.C. Telephone Company. Carried. At 8:30 p.m. Alderman Wright returned to the Chambers. Alderman Wright and Mayor Laking welcomed the Citys' new Chief Administrative Officer; Mr. G.H. Sawada, to his first Council meeting. Alderman Wright also commented on the successful bed race which was held in Port Moody on July 4th. Alerman Keryluk stated his appreciation for the gate that was installed at Paula Place. Also Alderman Keryluk commented on the ‘correspondence received from the Seventh-Day Adventist Church with regards to change in their campaign month from December to September. Mayor Laking inforaed the Council of Mr. Geoff Davis' transfer from the Coquitlam Detachment of the R.C.M.P. and would like Council members to join him for a dinner in his honour at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening July 15th, 1981.
