V3C 2A8 Attention: T.M.Y. Chong, P.Eng. City Engineer Dear Sirs: Re: Coquitlam River Flood Control Works Drainage Study In response to your request, Associated Engineering is pleased to submit a Proposal to study the effects of the proposed Coquitlam River flood control works on the internal drainage of Reeve St. Park and vicinity. 1.0 PROJECT BACKGROUND understanding of the project has been nsulting work for the Fraser River Flood The Fraser River Flood Control Program proposes to construct dykes on both banks of the Coquitlam River thereby preventing flooding of adjacent land. The existing system of dykes js incomplete and has a number of low points where the drainage can flow freely to the river. Once the dykes are reconstructed to the 200-year flood level, the drainage can exit to the river only through the floodbexes. When the water levels in the river are high, either due to increased run-off in the Coquitlam River or due to the backwater effects of the Fraser River, gravity flow wil] not occur since the flood gates will be closed until the water level drops.
