October 24th, 1977 Alderman Traboulay asked Mr. Pettie how many boys would be on the team and Mr. Pettie advised presently there are 21 boys, but may be as many as 25 on the team. The reason for this is because some of the boys are working shift work and would not be able to attend all of the games. Alderman Traboulay asked when the leaque would be started, and Mr. Pettie advised it is already underway with a couple of exhibition games already held. Mr. McIntosh advised Council the name of the team is "Port Coquitlam Golden Ears Hotel". Alderman Traboulay asked Mr. Pettie to explain what type of equipment will be required, whether helmets would be worn, and Mr. Pettie advised they would be, and also Mr. Pettie advised carded referees would be used to ensure proper refereeing would be carried out during games. From the Leisure Activities Committee, October 24th, 1977, advising that at the meeting held on October 20th, 1977, the Committee was able to determine the amount of ice time that would be available for the Metro Junior Hockey Club.
