? 3 ia! ONE OF THESE cows, or rather their hind-ends, could be the focus of much 30 & speculation during the Fall Fair. Depending on where the cow poops, a lucky lot- tery ticket holder will be a few bucks richer. BET ON A BOVINE Yippee-yi-yay — cow patty bingo BINGO, the fast-paced game that requires an alert mind, quick reflexes and a bit of luck has gone to the cows. That's right, the second annual 4-H cow patty bingo is back by popular demand at this year’s Fall Fair. And patience, with a bit of luck, is about ihe only thing needed to play this game. The game is quite simple — one cow is left to it’s own devices to roam around in a fenced off area that’s measured and marked offinto one and a half foot squares. The unsuspecting bovine’s only role is to leave a irail of cow patties behind her — and that’s something thal can’t be rushed, explained Vicki Siddall who’s this years organizer. “Last year it took about one and a half hours to complete the game,’’ said Siddall. “We try to find someone very official to be the judge, like a member of the RCMP,” And their job requires a combination of accuracy, a sense of humour and a strong stomach, “They go out and measure to decide where the biggest heap is,’’and at least 80 per cent of the cow patty has to land in the square. The participants choose their numbers, but only the head office knows what they are, that way no onc can ‘fix’? the game. “The big thing is to get them to move around —— we'll get someone in there to en- courage them,”’ added Siddall. The choice of cow is not as arbitrary as its bowel movements, but must be a placid grazer thal won’t jump the fence. The choice of cow is not as arbitrary as its bowel move- ments, but if must be a placid grazer that won't jump the fence. “‘When they first get to the fair grounds they turn into raving idiots,'’ Siddall said that ai Eirst, the cows are easily spooked. Last year the event sold out to about 180 .. people to raise money for the 4-H club to go towards barn improvements and events like the Christmas party. It only costs a Loonie to buy a square and half of the money goes to prizes. The event will be held in the beef rink on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. } ’ Seeygnee ee MAZDA B2200 EXTRA CAB 2WD LEASE PRICE .
