President Géeraid Tibbits has recently returned fram Uttawa where he was a4 special guest of
Winterlude. Not only did he have a great time (skating on the Rideau at 5:00 4.M. means perfect
ice!) but he also was well received by many Winterlude personnel as well as by ather festival
organizers. Weare very happy to have established a twinning relationship with Winterlude,
one which will eventually involve student exchanges between La Féte and Winterlude. Gérald
presented aur poster to Mr. Kirby, Yice-President of the Ottawa Capital Coramission. We will
be happy te welcome to La Féte a special quest from the Capital Commission, the Senior
Project Manager of Winterlude, Thérése St.Onge .

While in Ottawa, he also presented a copy of aur poster to the Hon. Gerry Weiner, Secretary of
State, and invited him to join us in May. Mr. Weiner hung our poster in his new offices and he
‘was most pleased to include it in his new decor.

Mr. Guy Pacquet, Deputy Director (Francophone Institutions), Bureau of the Federal
Coordinator for “La Francophonie” of External Affairs was riost pleased ta accept s poster on
behalf of Mr. Claude Laverdure, federal coordinator for La Francophonie of External Affairs.

Animpartant part of Gérald ‘s trip was meeting with many government officials who were mast
supportive and helpful.

And our thanks go to our newest sponsor, Canadian Airlines. YWith their assistance, Claire
Throness, our official clown, was able ta represent us at the Festival du Voyageur in Winnipeg.
Claire contributed te their festivities and also continued the festival networking we have begun.

Welcome to aur new staff--David Clark joins us a3 Project Manager and will be reponsible for
the physical well-being of La Féte. He is being helped ty Pat Chabot as Site Logistics Manager.
Gur new secretary and receptionist is Jackie Gumime. All are valuable additions ta our care

staff. ,

The second issue of_Le Jengleur has long been in the schools. [t contains our very important

schedule and ticket booking information. We're eagerly anticipating our first phone calls in
March!
