C., on March 15th, 1976, at 7:30 p.m. His Worship Mayor J.M. Campbell, Aldermen J.J. Keryluk, G.R. Laking, E.W. Mabbett, P.F. Ranger, M.A. Thompson, and L.M. Traboulay in attendance. Also in attendance were Chief Administrative Officer L.D. Pollock, City Clerk R.A. Freeman, City Engineer V.G. Borch, P. Eng., Fire Chief W.S. Wingrove, Recreation Director Janna Taylor, Worke & Utilities Superintendent G. Ulmer, and Mrs. B.M.Aalten. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Thompson: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That the minutes of the regular meeting of this Council held on March 8th, 1976, be taken as read and adopted. Carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: The City Clerk then advised that four requests for burning permits that were deferred at the last meeting were available for further consideration. tHoved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That the request of H.'& T. Kwast Construction, March 2nd, 1976, for permission to clear by burning, property situated at the South-east corner of Hastings Street and Davies Avenue, described as Lot 91, of a Plan of Subdivision in process, be denied. Carried. Mayor Campbell & Aldermen Laking & Thompson voted against the resoluticn. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, Alderman Ranger referred to a further report from the Fire Preventiion Officer on the application, and pointed out that while it mentions the type of debris to be burned on the 10-acre site (mostly cottonwood), it contains no recommendation that the burning should go ahead. Alderman Keryluk advised he had learned that cottonwood is in high demand by Scott Paper, and suggested that the request be set aside to allow the owner of this particular piece of property to investigate the possibility of providing a useful service by making these trees available to that firm; however, the Fire Chief stated that the applicant had advised him all the cottonwood logs have been sold and all that remains to be burned are some large cottonwood stumps, branches and tops, etc. Alderman Mabbett stated he Miuutes — Mar.8/76 City Clerk re appins. for burning i permits ‘ -H & T Kwast Constr SE corner ~Hastings & | Davies (burn- ing permit) :
