MEMORANDUM

This memorandua is Pursuant to the resolution of Council dated May 15th,-

staoiiicy of the foundation of the bullding", :

& Chalet Building inspector and the undersigned have investigated the
sudjece building and as 2 Tesult of joint discussion subait the following for Council's
consideration,

These is no access Co the crawl space. Tha foundations and floors have

beea sudtected co Severe dizierential settlement probably due to borh inadequate
Zoundations and dry rot. The floor Systems require complete Tebuilding to meet the
Present Code,

2. The heating systen is completely obsolete and uncatiefactory, A new
beating systex would be required to meet the present Code,

3. The piunbing system ig obsolete, malfunctioning and unsanitary. A aew
plusding systen vould be required ro meet the present Code,

4. The electrical systen is obsolete and unsafe. A new electrical system
would be required to meet the present Code,

5. Access to the top floor is inadequate and unsafe, Proper access should
be included as sare of a Tenovation and this would Probably necessitate Structural changes,

6. The general outside and inside condition of the building has dekeriorated
to sa unsatisfactory and unsafe degree. The portion of the building that would require
Zeplacing or upgrading in order to meet current standards or Codes te difficult to
Cetersine until an sctual ptoposed renovation ite undertaken,

2. The building is used to a considerable degree, It appeara that it will
‘hava to continua to be used until euitabla Proper space can be provided,
+ The cost of a renovation meeting the Code would cost as nuch or Bere than
Providing equivalent Space elsewhere. It would be difficult to estinate the actual
Cost until the renovation had commenced,
{ RECOMMENDATIONS
; 1, Thie report should be submitted to Council in Committee. Any subsequent
reports required from the Fire Marshall's Office or the Medical Health Offteer should
be made to the Council in Committee, Because it would appear that the building wii
