VERY WELL known Terrace
pioneer Harvey Doll will
celebrate his 98th birthday on
Dec. 21 at Terraceview Lodge.

Harvey was born on Dec, 21,
1895 at Waterloo County,
Ontario,

His parents were Theobold and
Leah Doll. He came from a fam-
ily of seven children — three
boys and four girls.

Harvey's sister Hilda Petria —
who lives in Stratford, Ont. —
celebrated her 100th birthday on
Aug. 29 of this year,

And sister Irene is now 87 years
old and lives in Alberta,

Harvey’s sister Mahel .

again and set up house again.

In 1924, Harvey and his family
lived in Cedarvale. Harvey had a
contract to lake out wood for
Morley and Thompson, who had
a store there.

They -later. bought-a “place at
Woodcock and built a lag house.

‘Harvey cut and sold railway
ties, shakes and poles, shipping
the materials out by rail.

They would also ship milk and
cream to Prince Rupert. They
kept the cream coo] by ommers-
ing the cans in the creck.
‘Because Woodcock was a small
place and had only an elementary
school, Harvey and Caroline de-
cided to move to Terrace in 1927,

By this time they had nine chil-
dren and wanted better schooling,
‘Harvey and his family olived on
the Corlet place in Thornhill with
the children going to school in a
small building on Qucensway,
The teacher was a Miss Pearson.
