Association as the national
standard, the system rates

to the types of fires they
will extinguish, and the size
of the area they will cover.
Each unit is given an A, B or
€ rating, or a combination
of these letters,

Class A fires involve ar-
dinary combustibles such as
wood, paper, textiles,
drapery, and upholstery.

Class B fires are caused
by flammable liquids in-
cluding fuel oil, gasoline,
