Train- ing for early learning specialists and in- structors, increasing daycare and pre- school spaces, and preparing children to begin school are some of the issues that CAPE will tackle during the com- ing year. The future looks bright! Partners’ Committee Several communities had already established a local partners’ commit- tee prior to September 2009; however, it is only this academic year that com- mittees have been set up in all CSF (francophone education authority) schools. Results were widely varied. The training provided at the beginning of the year got the program off fo a good start, but it's only by doing that one can truly understand the scope and chal- lenges (!) facing the partners’ com- mittees. The advisory board, consisting of the CSF, SEPF (Syndicat des enseig- nantes et enseignants du programme francophone), the Canadian Union of Public Employees, the Regroupement des directions d'écoles, and the FP- FCB, has continued to extend the pro- gram to the provincial level. The com- mittee made recommendations to the CSF for a second training session for all partners' committees in the fall of 2010. With this support, we are hopeful that . every school community will enjoy the fruits of these efforts during the com- ing year. We would also like to take this opportunity to tell all of the parents in- volved in the partners’ committees that the FPFCB is here to support you. Don’t hesitate to call upon as! Lawsuit The FPFCB is now co-plaintiff in the lawsuit announced last March by the CSF against the provincial government. In fact, having analyzed the current problems in the francophone educa- tion system and efforts to resolve them, the FPFCB Board of Directors reached the conclusion that the only choice was to ask to the courts to force the government to honour its constitutional obligations. The Board's did not fake this decision lightly. The lack of adequate facilities in which to provide francophone edu- cation in many regions of the province (more than 14 schools) weighed heav- ily in the decision. Indeed, this situation prevents the CSF from reaching ifs en- tire potential audience and providing educational services of the highest quality. The result is the rampant assimi- lation of young British Columbia franco- phones. For this reason, the main purpose of this lawsuit is to resolve the issue of school infrastructure for the future. We believe that this action will finally af- ford the CSF the means to manage the strong growth of its schools and provide our children with safe, suitable schools. Rest assured that we will keep you in- formed as this matter develops. Strategic Plan Finally, over the past year the FPFCB team and ifs members have worked diligently on the 2010-2015 Strategic Plan.
