The problem arises that on regular size residential lots most parcels pay for their sixty vr more feet of frontage and the corner lots are always faced with the prospect of paying for 100 feet. An example of this is shown on the Essex Improvement Plan for this. year and if you refer to the map attached you will see that the properties on the north side of the street are all going to be paying the 100 foot maximum. It is true that if the improvement program is carried on to the frontage streets, for example, Inverness and Hamilton in this case, these corner lots will have paid their full levy and will not be charged additional amounts, however, all corner lots are in the unique position of having to pay their full 100 foot maximum. Reducing the maximum to, for example, 66 feet would help to get around this problem. It might make the local improvement method more acceptable. Sixty~six feet as a maximum is suggested because it does cover the situation where there is a house on two 33 foot lots, however, any similar frontage could be con- sidered. If the 66 foot maximum is adopted it would reduce the property owner's contribution and in the case of the Essex and Newberry projects planned for this year the recoveries are as. follows: Essex 100 Foot Maximum 66 Foot Maximum Estimated Cost SU seen ll $83,280. $83,280.
