July 10th, 1978. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution Alderman Mabbett explained the proposed immediate changes to the Coast Meridien and Prairie intersection. Alderman Mabbett further advised that Mr. G. Uyesugi, owner of the Buyrite Store at Coast Meridian and Prairie, had agreed to pay 50% of the installation of a portion of sidewalk on Prairie from Coast Meridian along his property, plus the landscaping. Mr. J. Fenton of the Northside Merchants Association asked that Sefton Street be paved and Alderman Mabbett advised Sefton Street had been upgraded with a necessary watermain and that it would be fiushcoated this year, and possibly in the future with the cooperation of the Northside Shopping Centre's owner they could facilitate a future improvement of Sefton Street. Alderman Traboulay advised that the parking spacas in front of the Buyrite Store would be removed during the month of August to allow better traffic flow through the Prairie ~ Coast Meridian intersection. Discussion then ensued on the necessity of removing the parking spaces to allow the traffic on Coast Meridian to move more freely. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That as recommended by the Public Works Committee, July 5th, 1978 a 10-inch watermain be installed on Whyte Avenue from Shaughnessy Street to the 24-inch watermain along the river.
