On Commonwealth northbound at Westminster. 3, On Laurier westbound at Shaughnessy. ITEM V ‘Re: Recommended Local Improvements In the past several years, Council has completed approximately two local improvement construction projects per year. There are , however, a number of projects still outstanding on the list. In order to catch up on some of the outstanding requests, the Public Works Committee recommends that the City undertake three projects this year, one of which is an advanced local improvement. The three projects are described below. Cost estimates given are approximations only and are included simply to allow Council to get an idea of the approximate amount of money involved. More accurate estimates cannot be done until full engineering has been completed. The Committee recommends the following three local improvement projects in the following order of priority: 1. 3600 Block Hamilton Street - storm sewer, curbs and pavement required ~- cost estimate - $64,000.00 - Resident cost (normal) at $13.75 per front foot equals $16,620.00. 1700 Block Langan (advanced program) - storm sewer, pavement and curb and gutter required. Cost estimate - $105,000.00 ~ Resident cost (advanced) at $36.50 per front foot equals $34,675.00. Grant Avenue from Wellington to Coast Meridian - storm sewer, curbs and pavement required. Cost estimate - $118,000.00 ~- Resident costs (normal) at $13.75 per front foot equals $31,900.00. ITEM VI Re: Chester ~ Shaughnessy Intersection In November 1977, Council requested the Public Works Committee to reconsider the problems at the above intersection in six months time. The request was for construction of a right- turn lane from Shaughnessy to Chester to allow these turns to be made without slowing down traffic in the thru lane on Shaughnessy. Lae
