Future of 1987 Riverboat Days in question

TERRACE —The 1986
Riverboat Days commit-
tee has had two meetings
to try and elect a new ex-
ecutive and plan for next
year which is also Ter-
race’s 60th anniversary.
The committee is hoping
for a best ever . 1987
Riverboat Days.

Six people attended

the first meeting and 12
attended the second
gathering which was not
enough people to show
that the committee could
fill 10 days with ac-
tivities.

Committee represen-
tatives point out that the
planning has to begin
now and groups have to

at least start thinking
about their activity for
next year. Organizers
cannot assume that
events which happened
before will automatically
happen again. Even if
the plans aren’t complete
committee members
need to know the basic
outline.

Joan Cox, vice presi-
dent in charge of
scheduling, said people
assume that it’s okay to
just let us know in June
but advertising and
scheduling take time and
the framework must be
in place very early. Also
we try to get extra funds
and discounts when we
