Cuban braves sharks, patrols get
to Miami with ping pong paddles

MIAMI, Fla, (AF) —ACu-

lavy patrols during a seven-
day journey to the United
States floating on two in-
nertubes.

The ordeal of 27-year-old

ended when he was rescued

Cordova said he had
planned his flight for a year,
wanting to escape the Cuban
political system. He said he
left his home in Habana del
Este, a Havana suburb, on
July 23 after waiting nine
