United Nations Plaza to Times
Square in support of the Popular
Unity government and to de-
mand that the U.S. navy “get
out of Chile.” Other demonstra-
tions occurred-in all major cities.

The Communist Party, through
an editorial in the Daily World,
said, “There is satisfaction in
the White House today, but it
will not last. The struggle of the
Chilean people for independence
from imperialism and for a just
democratic society at home has
not been ended.”

BUENOS AIRES — Tens of
thousands of demonstrators

Chile, with the support of for-
eign imperialists, want to drown
in blood the Chilean people’s

“A right wing reactionary
coup has been imposed on the
Chilean people by a military
junta acting on behalf of
rightist, reactionary forces in
Chile, the CIA and U.S. im-
perialism. President Allende
and hundreds of other Chilean
patriots have been murdered
in cold blood and democracy
destroyed,” the Central Com-
mittee of the Communist Par-
ty of Canada said in a press
statement on Sept. 12.

prevent the peoples of Latin
