Freeman, I wish to advise the Port Coquitlam City Council that Canada Post Corporation does not plan to attend the May 3rd and «6 4th, 1988 Public hearings regarding Supermailboxes. As indicated to you in my letter of April oth, 1988, we feel that all avenues of consultation have been adequately explored in this matter, Council's resolution objecting to the concept of Supermailboxes as a suitable alternative to donr-to-door delivery clearly speaks on behalf of the residents of | Port Coquitlam. As Canada Post's deadline to receive Council's. co-operation. in the installation of Supermailboxes hag passed, we. will nat proceed at this time with. Our. plans ta improve mail service in your community. Existing levels of service will be maintained, that being green group mailboxes and General Delivery at the Port Coquitlam Post Office. This dees not apply of course to Supermailbox locations where we have been requested to place them on private property. Canada Post is committed te its Supermaiibox initiative and: we will be proceeding with our schedule to install Supermailboxes. in’ communities where residents have indicated a keen interest in receiving this service improvement
