September 23rd, 1974 Community grows the need for some uniformity and a demand for large container pick-up will grow. and as the present system is so inequitable he has asked the Engineering Department for a further report on this subject - to include costs of the container program so that a method of commercial solid waste disposal that is fair to both sides can be decided once and for all. A short discussion ensued concerning the difficulty in providing equal garbage pick-up service to all businesses and at the request of His Worship the Mayor, the Works & Utilities Superintendent explained the situation res— pecting garbage pick-up from the Star Furniture and confirmed that no special treatment was being given to this particular business. From Alderman Thompson, Chairman of the Public Works Committee, advising for information, that the Major Interior Intersections to be upgraded are as follows: Shaughnessy Street-Pitt River Road; Pitt River Road-McLean Avenue; Flint Street-Prairie Avenue; Prairie Avenue-Chester Street. Alderman Thompson, in his report, further advised that because land acquisi- tion is involved in some areas, he would make a detailed presentation to Council in Committee prior to the month end in order to establish priorities and begin construction. From Alderman Thompson, Chairman of the Public Works Committee, advising that Victoria has accepted the City's finalized Local Improvement By-law and that the list of priorities for local improvements has been established; further, that publishing of expected jobs, including Wellington Street, will take place immediately. The City Engineer agreed to make the list of prior- ities available to Council on September 24th, 1974. As mentioned in the Public Works Report from Alderman Thompson, a memorandum was then received from the City Engineer, dated September 20th, 1974, concerning flood control works in the Coquitlam Dyking District.
