Aldermen Keryluk and Traboulay voted in favour of the resolution. Prior to the question being called on the above-~stated resolution, a discussion ensued and Alderman Ranger stated his view that it was not the Council's place to take such action on behalf of the citizens of Port Coquitlam, but rather he would like to see the people get involved on their own. Alderman Thompson stated he was Opposed to the motion 4£ the motivation is because Byron Straight is going to resign aud that it is not the Council's business to speak collectively on this subject on behalf of the citizens of Port Coquitlam. Alderman Traboulay pointed out that the new rates are at least 2 times the amount charged in 1975 and are thus outside the strict guidelines of the Federal Anti Inflation Board; also, as trustees of the City's finances, the Council is committed to keeping municipal costs down. Telephone Company.
