MEMORANDUM Mayor and Council November 29th, 1976 Alderman P.F. Ranger Traffic congestion in this part of the Lower Fraser Valley has reached the crisis stage. The inability of traffic to flow normally is detrimental to residents, merchants and industry located between Mission and Maple Ridge.. The Provincial Highways Department is well aware of the problem and have spent time and money planning a new arterial class highway between New Westminster and Maple Ridge. In order to bring about some action I would recommend that Port Coquitlam invite representatives from the following bodies to a meeting in order to discuss ways and means of focusing attention on the problem. Representatives from the six Municipalities, two Regional Districts, Chambers of Commerce, Ratepayer Associations, Advisory Planning Board Chairmen, Minister of Highways, and the three M.L.A.s should be invited. We must join forces to convince the Provincial Government that a new arterial route is essential and should therefore be given the highest priority. Respectfully submitted:
