FROM: Parks and Recreation Committee The Parks and Recreation Committee met on Thursday, June 2th, 1974 at 3:30 p.m. Present were Alderman George Laking, Chairman, Alderman Len Traboulay, Co-chairman, City Engineer Vince Borch, P. Eng.,and Janna Taylor, Recreation Director. ITEM I: JULY 1ST SPORTS CARNIVAL (For Information Only) The Parks and Recreation Committee would like Council to be aware of the monies that are being spent on the July lst Sports Carnival. Public Works - $806.00; Rental of Recreation Centre - $540.00; Centennial Pool, Staff Wages - $57.00 for a total of $1,397.00. The above costs are similar to last year's costs. ITEM II: NAMING OF THE LACROSSE BOX Presently the new lacrosse box on the George Pearkes School site has no name. The Parks and Recreation Committee recommends that it be named the "Ulster Street Lacrosse Box". ‘ITEM III: ROLLER SKATES Roller skating during the spring months has not been well attended and this situation has existed for the last three years. As seen by the attached information, the revenue made was considerably less than the money spent on wages. Another factor to take into consideration is that the cost of maintenance for repairing the roller skates is high. Due to the expensive nature of roller skating, the Parks and Recreation Committee would like to make the following recommendations to Council: ° 1. That public roller skating be discontinued. 2.
