KEITH JOHNSON REGION 1 CHOICE FOR INTERNATIONAL VICE-PRESIDENT Keith Johnson, highly pop- ular and very able president of Lecal 1-207 IWA Alberta, has been chosen by Regional Council No. 1 to contest the position of International 2nd Vice-President. He is the first i cagucend in twenty-five years seek a top office in the International Union. He is being opposed for the position by an Ameri- ean from Springfield, Oregon. Keith is 37 years of age and is married with four children, two boys and two girls. Be- sides being president of his Local Union, he is the Ist Vice-President of the Alberta Federation of Labour and one of the two International Exe- cutive Board Members of Re- gional Council No. 1. After serving five years with the Royal Canadian Navy during the Korean War, Keith returned to his native province of Alberta in 1955. In the spring of 1956 he com- menced work at Western Ply- wood Company in Edmonton (now Weldwood of Canada) and was instrumental in gain- ing the IWA certification in that plant.
