Prior to the question being called on the foregoing resolution Alderman Ranger read a memorandum from the City Planner giving some background to the proposed phasing of the apartment zone. Alderman Traboulay asked for clarification on the proposed use of the old Legion site on Pitt River Road and the City Planner advised the property owner is considering sale of the property to be used for a proposed apartment. Alderman Traboulay then referred to the Public Information meeting held regarding apartment zoning and the opposition to apartments. Alderman Gates advised he was in favour of proceeding to Public Hearing and Alderman Ranger advised most of the concerns of the local residents were regarding traffic and stated these would be answered at the Public Hearing. CORRESPONDENCE: From the Coquitlam Fine Arts Council, September 2nd, 1980 requesting a representative to act as liaison person in the area of fine arts. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the request from the Coquitlam Fine Arta Council, September 2nd, 1980 for a representative from the City of Port Coquitlam to act as liaison person in the area of fine arts be referred to the Parks and Recreation Committee for study and report back to Councd1l. Carried. From the Navy League of Canada, Pocomo Branch, September 3rd, 1980 requesting permission to sell raffle tickets. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That as requested from the Navy League of Canada, Suptember 3rd, 1980 permission be given to sell raffle tilekets on September 26th & 27th, October lOth & Lith and October 24th & 25th, 1980.
