Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That as requested by the Boy Scouts of Canada permission be pranted to hold their annual PoCo Trek on Saturday, April 21st, 1979, Carried, Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution Alderman Ranger stated that in his opinion it should be Suggested to the Boy Scouts that the PoCo Trek route be changed to cross at Prairie Avenue instead of Fraser Avenue so participants could use the light at Chester Street and Prairie Avenue. From the United Way of the Lower Mainland, January 26th, 1979 requesting that a member of the Council be delegated to sit on the North Fraser Governing Committee, Moved by Alderman fraboulay: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the request by the United Way of the Lower Mainland, January 26th, 1979 for a member of Council to be delegated to sit on the North Fraser Governing Committee be denied. Defeated. Aldermen Traboulay and Mabbett voted in favour of the resolution. Discussion then ensued. Alderman Keryluk clarified the request from the United Way of the Lower Mainland advising that a representative from the Council was needed as a large amount of money is collected from Port Coquitlam and therefore Council should have some say in how the money is used, Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That as requested by the United Way of the Lower Mainland, January 26th, 1979 a member of Council be delegated to sit on the North Fraser Governing Committee of the United Way.
