athe 3 er THE CORPORATION OF THE : { y CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM SEP 26 1904 REPORT TO COUNCHL TO T. Chong DATE: September 21, 1994 City Administrator FROM: LR. Zahynacz, P. Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: RECONSTRUCTION OF DORSET AVENUE - OXFORD TO ST. ANNE (Pablic Works Committee Meeting of September 21, 1994) RECOMMENDATIONS: 1) That Council approve the funding for the reconstruction of the road, drainage and sidewalk on Dorset Avenue between Oxford Street and St. Anne Street as shown on the attached Plan 1; at an estimated cost of $45,046.83. 2} That Council allocate $45,046.83 from the 1994 Public Works Capital Fund for this purpose. BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: | Council has recently approved the milling and overlay contract to repave Dorset Avenue from Wellington to Oxford Street. As part of the servicing requirements for the new Kwayquitlam School, the Coquitlam School District has reconstructed Dorset Avenue from Flint Street to St. Anne Street. At this point there is a 40 metre section of Dorset Avenue between Oxford Street and St. Anne (see attached Plan 2) to be reconstructed so that Dorset would be completely repaved from Flint to Wellington. It is estimated that it would cost $45,046.83 to reconstruct this portion of Dorset, complete with sidewalks, curbs and gutters, and storm sewer as described in the attached September 19, 1994 memorandum from the Project Engineer. It is noted that the final contract price for the reconstruction of Coast Meridian Road a proved at the August 22, 1994 Council meeting was less than estimated and resulted in a savings in the 1994 Capital Reserve Fund of approximately $350,000. It is recommended that Council approve the reconstruction of Dorset between Oxford and St. Anne and allocate funds for this work from the 1994 Public Works Capital Fund. IRZ:cd Treasurer's Comments: There are sufficient funds in the 1994 Public Works Capital Fund for this purpose. Attachments Wey weibedad ¥ fi
