THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM TO B.R. Kirk, November 14, 1989 City Administrator FROM: T.M. Chong, P. Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: Barricading of Lane Between York Place and Western Drive (Public Works Committee Meeting of November 1, 1989) Recommendation: l, That metal bollards be erected at the eastern end of the lane between york Place and Western Drive, 2. That the estimated cost of $1,000 for this work be funded from the savings on the Wellington Reconstruction Project Budget. Background and Comments: The attached memo from Alderman Wright on behalf of Mrs. Jean Norman provides the background and justifications for this request. The Committee supports this request. However, to ensure continual access by emergency vehicles to the York Place cul-de-sac from Western Drive, removable metal bollards are recommended over the standard concrete no-post barriers. The appropriate signage indicating the barricaded lane will also be erected as part of the proposed works, While all of the 1989 Public Works Committee Funds are committed, it is anticipated that the Wellington Road Reconstruction Project will be well within budget. It is therefore recommended that the necessary works be funded from the savings on the Wellington Project. re —eueel Gail ) Beadle 8 T.M. Chong, P.
