Construction of Sidewalk on Apel Drive
(Public Works Committee July 31, 1990)

RECOMMERDATION =

(1) That Council approve the construction of 170 metres of sidewalk on
the east side of Apel Drive to complete the sidewalk between Coast
Meridian and Victoria.

(2) That $20,000 be allocated for this purpose from the Public Works
Special Capital Expenditure Reserve Fund.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:

There is a gap in the sidewalk on the east side of Apel Drive which the
Committee feels should be completed to provide a safer route for children who
walk to Leigh Elementary School. It is recommended that Council approve the

expenditure of $20,000 to complete this sidewalk.

CITY TREASURER'S COMMENTS:

The requested funds are vot yet available in the Public Warks Special Capital
Expenditure Reserve. It is anticipated that interest on the reserve will
amount to more than the amount requested and previous committments. I
therefore agree with the recommendation.
