November 21st, 1977 A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chamber, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B. C. on November 2ist, 1977, at 7:30 p.m. His Worship Mayor J.M. Campbell, Aldermen J.J. Keryluk, G.R. Laking, E.W. Mabbett, P.F. Ranger, M.A. Thompson, and L.M. Traboulay in attendance. Also in attendance were Chief Administrative Officer L.D. Pollock, City Engineer V.G. Borch, P. Eng., City Cierk R.A. Freeman, Fire Chief W.S. Wingrove, Recreation Director Janna Taylor, City Treasurer J.G.S. Maitland, Assistant City Engineer L. Melnechenko, P. Eng., Works & Utilities Superintendent G.W. Ulmer, and Mrs. D.L. Vyse. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Minutes — : Nov. 21/77 Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the minutes of the regular meeting of this Council held on November 7th, 1977, be taken as read and adopted. Carried. Prior to commencing with the Council meeting Maycr Campbell extended congratulations to City Clerk R.A. Freeman and Mrs. M. Warwick for the efficient method used on November 19th, 1977 to process the results of the election. DELEGATION: Mr. Don Taylor, along with a delegation of parents and students, Delegation: Coquitlam was present to discuss the need for a bridge to cross the Coquitlam River Bridge River between the Lougheed Highway and Patricia Avenue. At Mayor Campbell's request Mr. Taylor introduced Mr. Lou Robinson who briefly reviewed the history of Council's actions in connection with the proposal and requested that Council approve the construction of the bridge. In response to an enquiry from Mayor Campbell Mr. Robinson stated that he was aware that the construction of a bridge would not guarantee that lives would not be lost in the Coquitlam River. ess Mr. Don Taylor, 2154 Patricia Avenue, expressed the opinion that the bridge requested would actually join two parks located on either side of the river and he suggested that funds might be available From the City's Parks Acquisition and Development Fund.
