A minutes silence was observed in memory of two members who passed away during. the month, ; The activities’ for’ Remembrance Days were recalled — two wreaths were laid at the Cenolaph, and approximately 100 chil- dren who participaled in the parade, were given refreshments, The members heard reparts form several committees; The ~ kitchen. committee reported all is well but more volunteers are... needed to help as backup for the regulars, | The maintenance commiltee reported that the installation of the heating~ sysiem is complete, The games commiltce “reported a good tumout of crib players each Tuesday eve- ning and said preparations are underway For the Northern Winter Games to be held in Terrace in February. The representative from the Seniors Ad- visory Commission spoke about the Terrace Seniors Directory which is available al the Centre, the Terrace Public Library and. al the Municipal Hall. The Glee Chib would welcome singers who would enjoy singing carois for. the Christmas party to be held in the centre on December 18. The bazaar committee reported that all raffle tickets have been sold. A commitice was formed lo organize a Ukrainian Supper in January + the date to be set at the December meeling; there was also a suggestion for a Spaghetti supper ta be held February 28, The date for the annual Robbie Burns catered supper in January will be set at the December meeting. Muriel’ Michiel and her committee reported visiling. several sick members; they also arranged for the celebration of one of the members: who teached the ripe age of 80 years. - Gertie Grundmann reported that the Well- héss Committee wants to send. an applica- tion to the Provincial Wellness Council for a treadmill machine for the Happy Gang Centre. . A request was made for the members to save their canceled postage stamps for the Leprosy Organization - a collection box will be available at the Centre. : The Election’ of Officers for the 1997 Year was held wilh the following members being successful for a two-year term: President-Hugh. Power; 2nd Vice-Pres.- Dorothy Hume; Treasurer-Fran Lindstrom; Directors-Mary Martin and Ann MacKay. Officers remaining for another year were: Secretary-May McFarland; 1st Vice-Pres.- Gert Grundmann and - Directors-Florence Schulmeister, Hazel Olson and Cliff Best, Appreciation was expressed for the efforts of the nominations committee, The next meeting will be held December 12 at 2 p.m. in the Happy Gang Centre. Fun nite drew crowd By SADIE McCALLUM Skeena Valley Kennel Club ABOUT 30 dogs and their owners showed up for the Skeena Valley Kennel Club's fun nile on Nov. 21. The contests challenged dogs’ skills and sometimes the owners’ patience, bul every- onc had a great time. The relay event was won by Zoey — a toy poodle owned by Danna Ziegler. The musical chairs winner was Kayla, a cocker spanicl. The fun nite was the last night for drop- ins this winter, The club will start drop-ins up again in the spring. However, if you need help or information over the winter, there are still plenty of things you can do, There are quite “a few TV programs around right now. Channel 9 has a show called ‘“You and Your Great Dog.’? On Channel 18 at 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays, tune into ‘Gentle Doctor.’’ And, on Channel 21 you can see ‘Pel Connections.’’ Channel 25 says it will regularly schedule a shaw on veterinary emergency procedures. If TV isn’t your style, then step by the fi- brary. They carry books on a variety of breeds. Or, the Skeena Valley Kennel Club has listings of books and videos on a wide variely of subjects. You can also call one of our members, and we'll try to do an article for you. One lady from Meziadin has already done this, and we’re working on the article right now. Don’t let him fick his paws, and clean his paws and coal every time he gets road salt on them.
