Dean Houghton assisted by Jim Cain. Music was by ~ Rusty Ljungh. Pallbearers were nephews , Rick and Don Owens, Eddy and. Jerry Haugland, and George Paulson. Following the service every- one. gathered upstairs at the Anglican’ Church meeting room for refreshments and eu- logy by Andy Owens ~ Dol- ly’s brother-in-law. . -Dolly was born at Terrace, B.C, on Nov, 16, 1929 and was named Elizabeth Amelia after her two grandmothers, ‘She was the second of five children of Terrace pioneers Emil and Bertha Haugland. Dolly’s father Emil was a -well-remembered pioneer born in Norway in 1901. _ He came to Canada when he was 22 and farmed in Sas- katchewan. But after being hailed out the first year, he de- -Cided to leave the prairies and come to Terrace, where his brother Chris Haugland had already settled. . After a 1924 logging acci- dent, Emil took a barber’s course and opened his shop in 1927, ~ He was Terrace’s local bar- ber for 40 years and served on city council for 24 years. Emil Haugland was mayor of Terrace in 1944 when a major _ landmark in the city’s devel- opment took place ~~ the opening of the road from Prince rupert to Terrace, Dolly’s childhood and early f adult years were spent in Ter- Tace, She enjoyed telling that she was one of only two graduates | of the Terrace high school j class of 1947. She was a popular member J of the community and was noted for her friendliness, her spontaneity and her consider- able sense of humour. Ta 1949, Dolly met and married her husband Peter] -Murie. The union has lasted 45 years and includes four children and six grand- children. Dolly and Pete shared their love, their achievements and whatever life brought together. Dolly was not only a superb wife and mother, but an active patticipant with Pete in their businesses, their adventures, and in their short but active retirement. They were irue YVONNE MOEN In addition to Terrace, Dolly and Pete lived in Prince George and Langley. Wherever they lived, and whenever they talked of home, il was Terrace. It was so natural that they would return here to retire. Dolley was an excellent mother, She gave her children - guidance, support, and most importantly, love. Dolly’s sudden untimely passing has been a tragic loss to all, particularly Pete, and to “Dolly” Murie her sisters, Honey and Pearl. All will miss her for the lovely lady that she was. Elizabeth Amelia (Dolly) Murie was predeceased by her first daughter, Patricia, and her parents (Emil and Bertha Haugland).
