Ende, city Engineer Application for Revenue Sharing Highways Grants (public Works Committee Meeting of December 13, 1988) Recommendation: That the 1989 Revenue Sharing Highways Grant Application include the following projects: lL. Wellington - Prairie to Lincoin 805,000 2. Coast Meridian - Lougheed to Westminster 470 ,000 3, Coast Meridian ~ Westminster to Prairie 436 ,Q00 Background and Comments : Applications for the 1989 Revenue Sharing Highways Grant is due on January 2, 1989. Under this program, the Province will fund 50% of the cost of items eligible. The Public Works Committee reviewed the roads eligible under this program and selected the two sections of Coast Meridian from Lougheed to Prairie as a priority. In addition, recognizing the commitment of the previous Council to complete the section of Wellington from Prairie to Lincoln the Committee has also included this project on the list. Even though Wellington is not an eligible road under the program it was thought that there would be no harm in submitting this project to Highways for consideration. The submission of this grant application will not commit Council to the construction of these projects in 1989. The suggested road projects in the recommendation will be included in the 1989 Preliminary Capital Budgets. Council will have the opportunity to assess the merits of these projects and the source of municipal funding during the up-coming budget Giscussions. in order for staff to submit an application to the Ministry of Highways a resolution of Council is required. .
