Resources, May 14th, 1973. in reply toa letter from the City. dated May 3rd, 1973
regarding cost-sharing by ‘Fraser Valley Nondeipalities in the dying improvenent
programme, and stating that he did not think that departing from the basic cost~
Sharing Formula already established should be considered. |
Alderman Taking advised he had had a very in-depth discussion with Mr. v.

Raudsepp and the Engineer, Mr, Sinmons , of ‘that Departnent last Thursday, and it
was his understanding there was going to be no ‘change -in the cost formula; however,
he stated the four Fraser Valley Regional Districts “are undertaking to prepare a
combined brief and will be meeting with the Provincial Government to request re-
consideration of the present cost-sharing.

That a letter be sent to our M.L.A., Premier David Barrett, together with a
copy of the letter received from The Honourable R. Williams, Minister of Lands,
Forests and Water Resources, May 14th, 1973. _Tegarding cost- “sharing by the Fraser

Valley Hunicipalities in the dyting improvement programme:

- indicating the Financial inability of ourselves and other’ similarly situated

municipalities to ‘provide proper ayke protection;

~ welcoming the indication in Hr. Williams! letter that ¢ there is some. flexibility
in the formula in areas not significantly urbanized and. sugkesting those could very:
well apply to the general area. in vaich we and other municipalities find ourselves:
- stating it is hoped the brief forthcoming from the Lower Mainland Municipal
Association ‘municipalities will be favourably x received; and
~ commenting that in addition, we seem to note seme conhision in that Me. Williams
indicates in his letter concurrence from Mrs Davis on the present’ formula. tis.
