Kaien . had bought out three small credit © unions on the Queen Charlotte Is- lands in the 1960s. The number of credit unions in the” province has shrunk from more than 200 to about 100, and Tarr expects the number will con- tinue to get smaller as pressure to amalgamate increases. “The trend is definitely towards more consolidation,”? he said.
