Zoning amendment for this project is adopted by the City Council.

Dr. Amin has a second proposal with some modification to his desi. ais
proposal is prepared by a fire protection engineering firm and ub cted
under the equivalency section of the B.C. Building Code.

ADDED PROTECTION PROPOSAL:
1, Install “quick response" Sprinkler heads.
@. Provide a "fully supervised" fire alarm system.

Increase floor, wall, and roof assemblies from a 3/4 hour fire rating to a
one hour fire rating.

Fire protection engineering firm to provide the City with a letter of
professional assurance.

1. I have reviewed this equivalency with the:

City Fire Department
B.C. Building Standards Branch
City Public Safety Committee

The mezzanine does not affect the building height for exterior

appearance. The policy vf the Building Department is to refer any
equivalency to the Public Safety Committee for review.

OPTIONS:
1. Accept the equivalency.

2. Dr. Amin must redesign the top floor of his building and make new
financial arrangements.

CONCLUSION:

Due to the degree of fire protection and given the current B.C. Building
Code section can be used, option #1 is recommended.
