BYLAW NO. 1929 NOY 29 1982

A bylaw to provide for the waiving of a portion of
the water and sewer user rates applied to a certain
class of citizens sixty-five years of age or over.

WHEREAS Section 202 of the Municipalities Enabling and validating Act, es
amended, reads as follows:

"202 (1) The council may, by bylaw, waive any part of any tax, rate or charge
imposed for the purpose of providing water, sewers, Or pollution control and
abatement facilities, with respect to their application to property owned and
occupied by any class of citizens sixty-five years of age or over specified in
the bylaw. ‘.

(2) Any deficiency resulting from a waiver of. taxes, rates, or charges
pursuant to subsection (1) shall be made up from the general revenues of the

municipality."

NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port
Coquitiam, in open meeting assembled, enacts as follows:

(a) Every person who, in accord with the provisions of the Homeowner grant Act.
certifies that he is sixty-five years of age or over during the 1982: calendar
year and applies for and receives the Homeowner Grant provided under Schedule Ii
of the Homeowner Grant Act shall be entitled, with respect to the property for
which the applicant is made, to a waiver of, and there shall be waived, the
amount of Twenty-six Dollars and Twenty-five Cents ($26.25) of the total annual
user rate chargeable under the provisions of Bylaw No. 752 of the City being the
"City of Port Coquitlam Sewer Rates Bylaw, 1964" as amended.

(b) The amount of the said abatement, if not deducted from the rates and charges
imposed by Bylaw No. 752 at the time of payment shell be paid by the City
Treasurer ton the person entitled thereto without further order of the Council.

(a) Every person who, in accord with the provisions of the Homeowner Grant Act
certifies that he is sixty-five years of age or over during the 1982 calendar
year applies for and receives the Homeowner Grant provided under Schedule I1 of
the Homeowner Grant Act shall be entitled, with respect to the property for which
the said spplication is made, to a waiver of, and there shall be waived, the
amount of Sixteen Dollars and Fifty Cents ($16.50) of the total annual user rate
chargeable under the provisions of Bylaw No. 991 of the city being the "City of
Port Coquitlam Waterworks Requlation Bylaw, 1970, No. 991: as amended...

(b) The amount of the said abatement, if not deducted from the rates and charges

imposed by Bylaw No. 991, at the time of payment shall be paid by the City
Treasurer to the person entitled thereto without further order of the council.

This Bylaw shall apply to the 1983 calendar year only.

This bylaw may be cited for all purposes as the "Senior Citizens Water and Sewer
Rates and Charges Partial Waiver Bylaw, 1982, No. 1929".
