72 understand that many businesses choose not to onen
on Sundayv,for various reasons. Similarly,.any individuals
choose not to shop on Sundays for personal reasons, However,
we do not feel that such reasons should impose artificial
restrictions on businesses that choose to remain onen on .
Sundays,or on citizens who might find Sunday to be the nost
convenient shopping day.

@ firmly believe in the democratic orincinple of majority
rule,but we also believe in the concept of free entervrise,

J@ urge Gity Council to allow citizens to asain vote on
this issue. Denial of this rignt for a free choice bv Touncil
would be a violation of democratic vrinciple.

Ne would also like to racomnend that the wording of the
ballot be sxplicitly clear as to what a 755 or XO vote
actually means. The nrevious ballot on this issue apneared to
be contrived in such a manner as to notentially mislead
voters,vhile we are not suggesting that this was intentional,
it points out the need for simple clear wording,
