Subject: Proposed Agreement - S. :ool District 43
(Parks & Recreation Corumittee - August 12, 1993)

Recommendation:

That the proposed agreement with School District 43 regarding various projects be
approved.

Background & Comments:

The attached agreement cails for the development of new joint use and joint development of
new recreation facilities at various school and park sites in the City.

This proposed agreement would provide for increased cooperation between the City and the
School Board on the development of community/schocl outdoor recreation facilities and
will provide for tax payers receiving better value for the investment.

River Springs Elementary

The agreement calis for the City to transfer approximately six acres to the School Board for
the future development of River Springs Elementary School. This proposed school site is
quite isolated from the rest of the City and will be serviced through the City of Coquitlam.

Joint use and maintenance agreements are not proposed for this site.
