BACKGROGND s At the Coueil meeting of October 21, 1991, the Terms of Reference and a budget of $40,000 were approved for a Consultant to be selected to prepare an Area Control Plan for the City's riverfront south of the Lougheed Highway Bridge. S ‘LION PROCESS: Requests for Expressions of Interest were sent out to all members of the Planning Institute of B.C. A total of 24 responses were received from planning consultants in private practice. From these, five firms with proven experience and a multi-disciplinary team were selected to prepare detailed proposals to undertake the study. From the proposals, the estimated cost to complete the work ranged from $34,000 to $43,400 (excluding GST). Interviews were held with several Consultants to ascertain their understanding of and approach to the study. DISCUSSION: After thorough consideration, the project hag been awarded to UMA Engineering Ltd. at a cost of $34,500 plus GST (th lowest bid), for a total of $36,915.
