1. 8, “MISS PNE” PAGEANT - 1981 Rules and Regulations Official sponsor entry forms of organizations, citles or districts holding public local elimination contests must reach the Pacific National Exhibition by August 1, 1981 and advice in writing by May 1, 1981, of intention to enter. Entry forms of contestants in the "Miss PNE" Pageant must be submitted by the organizations, citles or districts conducting the public local alimination contests and must reach the Pacific National Exhibition by August 1, (1981), Public local elimination contests must have minimum of six anirants. PUBLIC LOCAL ELIMINATION CONTESTS MUST BE HELD OURING THE TWELVE MONTH PERIOD IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING. Where the date of the public local elimination contest does not permit the naming of the finalist by August 1, (1981), permission for later contestant entry must be obtained in writing from the Pacific National Exhibition by tha contest sponsoring organization prior to August 1, (1981). Contestant must be a resident of Canada for two years and an actual resident for six months of the district of British Columbia which she represents and must have been judged the winner in a public local elimination contest having a minimum of six entries and publicly declared as a "Miss PNE" finalist. Contestant must never have been married. Contestants must have reached their 17th birthday by opening day of the “Miss PNE" Pageant, August 22, 1981, but must NOT have reached their 21st birthday by August 22, 1981, Rea-~ sonabie proof of age must be submitted with the contestant's personal entry form, Contestants must be of good character and possess poise, personality, charm, beauty of face and figure and have a minimum education equivalent to Grade Nine successfully completed. Contestants must file, along with their official contest entry form, a doctor's certificate of good health. Contestants under treatment, for any reason, during the period of this Pageant must have this prescribed treatment included with the doctor's certificate, A PNE doctor wil] be available for the duration of the Pageant. His decision on whether a contestant js pny si-~ cally fit to compete will be absolute. Contestants can appear only once in a“Miss PNE” final Pageant. Neither former final contestants nor winners of approved public locai elimination contests held more than one year prior to August, 1980 are eligible to appear in the (1981) or future “Miss PNE" competitions. The winner of the approved public local elimination contest will receive free transportauon for herself to Vancouver, B.C. and return, accommodation and meals at 4 locai hotel. The type of transportation, rail, air, steamship or bus, shall be at the discretion of the Pacific National Exhibition, as are the dates and times of the contestants’ transportation schedules. Contestants must report to the “Miss PNE” Committee suite at the hotel (to be named) not later than 5:00 p.m., Friday, August 21, 1981 except Dy special written permission of the Pacific National Exhibition and where Officially assigned transportation arrangements do not permit such arrival time. 92
