TERRACE ATOM players were triumphant follow-
ing their shootout victory over Smithers’ Oscar’s-
Atoms Dec. 9-10 to take the Smithers ‘A’ Atoms
Tournament Trophy.

Trailing by two points entering the final period, Os-
car’s were in desperate need of a goal. Ignited by the:
formidable pair of Roger Mehr and Tyler Koldyk,
Oscar’s put on an unrelenting onslaught.

The two dangerous forwards kept Smithers’ hopes

_ alive with frequent forays into the Terrace goal area

and were close to scoring on several occasions.

The top-notch goaltending performance of Ter-
race’s Corey Duben prevented the hos? team from
gaining an early equalizer.

Oscar’s finally got the elusive goal with 2:46 left to
play. Koldyk initiated the move and relayed the puck

to the speeding Mehr who struck it past the beaten
‘ Duben.

Still down 2-3 and with the clock rapidly ticking |

‘away, Smithers didn’t waste any time pounding’ the
_ Terrace defence. At 1:40, their unyielding efforts

bore the tying point. Koldyk spearheaded the goal
with an assist to Mebr who made no mistake to nail
the match at 3-3 even.

the goalies were there to spoil it. ;
