THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAIA . _2- ITEM IIT Re: Chester Street Storm Sewer In the 1977 Provisional Budget an amount of $270,000. was submitted for the reconstruction to arterial street standards of Chester Street from Fraser to Prairie and Prairie Avenue from Chester to Flint. It is felt that whether or not all this work is approved this year or not, it is essential that a storm sewer installation on Chester Street should be completed before the Lougheed — Shaughnessy intersection is constructed to the point where northbound traffic is diverted to the Chester Street route.. The Engineering Department has done considerable work on the future drainage system in this area with the objective of directing the runoff from as large an area as possible west to the Coquitlam River. It appears that an area bounded on the north by Prairie and on the east by Oxford can be drained to the Coquitlam River. As part of this overall system a 42-inch diameter storm sewer will be required on Fraser west of Chester and a 21-inch diameter storm sewer will be required on Chester from Fraser to Prairie. The estimated cost of this work is $135,000. The Committee recommends that approval he granted to commence the storm sewer installation on Fraser and Prairie immediately.
