Carried, P/Wks.Comm.re From the Public Works Committee, September 19th, 1975, advising Laurier Ave.re- construction that the 1975 Budget contains an approved sum of $117,090.00 for the reconstruction of Laurier Avenue East of Coast Meridian Road, which sum included a storm sewer installation on Regina Street North of Prairie Avenue. This storm sewer installation is now estimated to cost $35,000.00 because the developer North of Prairie has not proceeded with the portion of the storm sewer within the proposed development. Engineering fees are estimated to cost $7,000,00; B.c. Hydro and B.C. Telephone underground installations are now estimated to cost $30,000.00 more than originally planned - in other words, it is projected that there will be approximately $45,000.00 remaining in the account - and on Friday, September 5th, 1975 the following tenders were received: h & T Kwast - $121,362.56 (plus 10% certified cheque) ; MacLand Construction ~ $147,244.06 (plus 10% certified cheque); Y.S.M. Contracting - $151,187.60; H.B. Contracting - $186,383.35 (plus 10% bid bond). The Engineering Consultant estimates the project at $131,000. and in view of the City's most recent experience the City Engineer concurs with this estimate. The acceptance of the low bid would mean that the project will be approximately $66,000.00 over-budget. Movea_by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That as recommended in a report from the Public Works Committee, September 19th, 1975, all bids received on Priday, September 5th, 1975 with respect to the Laurier Avenue Reconstruction Project be rejected and that the work proceed on the Easterly portion of Laurier Avenue by using City crews with expenditures in 1975 therefore not to exceed the original approved sum of $117,000.00.
