Solid Waste Recveling Study G Qur Solid Waste Recycling Study is progressing satisfactorily; -t- UN Mr. Vy 8 circulated a memo to Council members recently outlining the progress to date. We have just sent a questionnaire to 500 residents of the City in order to gather data for this Study. It is quite important that we get a good response to this questicnnaire and we would appreciate as much publicity as possible in requesting these residents to return the completed questionnaires. Perhaps the press could pive this some publicity. 2. Annual Meeting — Association of Professional Engineers Mr. Borch has requested permission to attend the Annual Meeting of the Association of Professional Engineers which {s to be held in Vancouver this year on October 26th to 28th. The Municipal Engineers Division of the a od Association hold sessions at this meeting and ‘fr. Borch would prefer to attend oe this Conference in place of the B.C. Public Works Association Conference, ; a ; The cest to the municipality would be the same. I would recommend that Mr. Borch be authorized to attend this Conference and that his expenses be paid on the regular per diem basis. Dog Incinerator The S.P.C.A. have been pressuring us for some time to assist in establishing some proper method for dog disposal. Dogs at one time were buried in the old City dup on Welcher Street and when this dump was closed down the animals were hauled to the Terra Nova Land Fill oreration. The operators of Terra Nova eventually refused to accept these animals and to provide a temporary solution the animals were hauled to the Port Moody dump. This arrangement was only to be temporary and Port Moedy have recently had to stop accepting these animals, eoee cont'd, Page -2-
