The Rendez-vous de la Francophonie canadienne The FFCB coordinated the 2011 provincial edition of the Rendez-vous de la Francophonie canadienne (RVF), which took place from March 4 to 20. Two events marked the festivities this year: the visit of a delegation from Drummondville and the Vancouver Celebrations of la Francophonie. Visit By the Drummondville Delegation In 2010, the RVF launched a three year project aimed at building bridges between cities in Quebec and Francophone communities in Canada, in order to encourage discussion and build relationships. Following a visit by the British Columbian Francophone community to Quebec in 2009, the municipal delega- tion from Drummondville visited British Columbia this year to consolidate the ties that were created, identify joint projects and build an international visit program, planned for the 2012 edition of RVF. Rendez-vous Francophonie The delegation’s visit took place March 10-13, 2011. Members of the delegation were welcomed by several members of the BC Francophone cultural network during working meetings in Vancouver and Victoria. They also visited the Francophone Center of Maillardville, took part in the Francophonie de Victoria Festival and attended a flag raising ceremony with the Mayor of Victoria: Mr. Dean Fortin whom we wholeheartedly thank for his gracious hospitality. FFCB Participation in the Vancouver Celebrations of Ja Francophonie The FFCB participated in the 2011 Vancouver Celebrations of la Francophonie at the Downtown Public Library where it introduced itself to the general public. It also promoted the event in various media, including the Vancouver Sun and the 24 Hour.
