THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM : ! 4 he REPORT TO COUNCIL OCT 25 ig: 8 TO: B.R. Kirk - DATE: October 21, 1993 City Administrator FROM: IR. Zahynacz, P. Eng., FILE: PWC ; City Engineer SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR SIDEWALK - EAST SIDE OF PITT RIVER ROAD YUKON AVENUE TO ROUTLEY AVENUE (Public Works Committee Mecting of October 19, 1993) RECOMMENDATIONS: That Council approve the installation of a 1.5 metre wide shale sidewalk on the east side of Pitt River Road from Routley to Yukon as shown on the attached Plan A at an estimated cost of $9,000. 2) That Council allocate $9,000 from the Special Public Works Capital Reserve for this purpose. BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: Residents Living in the Yukon/Jacana/Eureka area are requesting that a sidewalk be installed on the east side of Pitt River Road from Routley to Yukon. ; The Public Works Committee considered the attached memorandum from Russ Mammel dated October 7, 1993 showing that a concrete sidewalk complete with drainage and road widening would cost approximately $45,000 plus the cost for telephone pole relocation. There are insufficient funds available in the 1993 Budget for this project. Also the relocation of the telephone poles could take severai months to complete. It was noted that the road widening and sidewalk construction at this locaticn is proposed as a capital project under the development cost charge bylaw and would eventually be constructed under the development cost charge program. At this time, it is recommended that a 1.5 metre wide shale sidewalk be constructed on the east side of Pitt River Road as shown on Plan A. This project could be completed in approximately one week. 71, foe H. Jatt MLE 7s Ke - Ll JS ee LR.Zah , P. Eng.
