After a stay in Vancouver, they headed 500 miles north to Port Essington on a: boat called The ‘Cammosun. After a three-day stop, they loaded up their posses- sions and a team of horses and started a seven-day ride upriver on an old sternwheel steamer. — . The North Star chugged them up the Skeena to Hazelton, where _ they loaded up a wagon to travel to their new property. They felt proud as they jounced along the trail, as it was the first time a wagon had cver rambled through the valley, They were one of the first 10 settlers in the valley.
